Kemela Okara Foundation

Empowering People, Creating Opportunities, Giving Value

I have always been very passionate about helping others live purposeful lives. In this regard, I worked directly with drug addicts helping them to overcome addiction to drugs.

As a trustee of Freedom Foundation, I was part of a team that established a drug rehabilitation facility. A school for children from poor backgrounds and a halfway house for rehabilitating underage sex workers.

After contesting for the office of Governor in 2012 on the platform of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), and seeing the high levels of unemployment and poor education among my people, I set up the Kemela Okara Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization, through which I have provided and continue to provide scholarships to indigent students in Bayelsa State. Currently the Foundation has offered a merit based scholarship from first year to final year to 8 students in the fields of medicine, law, nursing and engineering.

I also founded and established the Firi Ke Ebi Initiative (an NGO), as well as Inventus Hub Limited, through which I provide Vocational, Technical and Entrepreneurial training to young unemployed men and women in Bayelsa State. As at today, Firi Ke Ebi and Inventus Hub have trained approximately 115 young Bayelsa indigenes in Welding, Fabrication, Painting, Carpentry, and Plumbing. Presently, Inventus Hub is facilitating the training of 68 persons with disabilities in Fish Farming, Fashion & Designing, Beads, and Bags and Shoes Making/Manufacturing.

“I am passionate to see ordinary men and women pursue destiny and achieve purpose, wellbeing and prosperity in a fair and equitable enabling environment.”
